The Appeal
The ‘Spirit’ lived up to its name in injecting a new Zeitgeist into the brand. With its cleaner lines and roomier interior, it was ready to take the Winged Lady into a new, more extrovert decade – the Eighties – and to take its place alongside (or more usually above) any other luxury manufacturer on either side of the Atlantic.
This beautiful-looking example has only been driven 77,630 miles – all of which have been meticulously documented and cared for by its 6 owners. The car spent some years as part of a wedding car fleet, where the Rolls was serviced in-house during this time. It has always been garaged.
In ‘Ocean Blue’ with a matching Everflex roof (and beige, piped blue leather interior), the car could easily be returned to wedding work, or simply be enjoyed as a relaxed, if slightly extravagant tourer. The unstressed 6.75-litre V8 is easy to maintain (serviced at 33,870 miles), and benefits from two new tyres, brake pads and a recent high-torque starter motor.
The History and Paperwork
- Delivered new to the director of Westbridge Textile Company of Nottingham on the 14th February 1986
- A copy of the original bill of sale is present
- Replacement fuel pump fitted in April of this year with a new spare in hand, and new front disc pads, and oil pressure switches in June
- Two new tyres fitted July, this year
- Odometer replacement at 43,652 miles in 1989 (believed to have been carried out by Rolls-Royce)
- Car serviced at 33,870 indicated miles - (77,522 miles if you count the mileage accrued on the original odometer)
- Comprehensive file of service invoices and spares bills, many from Rolls specialists, Flying Spares
- Car always garaged, and also has a high-quality indoor cover
The Condition
- Original ‘Ocean Blue’ metallic paint is in excellent condition
- Everflex roof retains a good colour, with neat edges, smooth lines and no evidence of corrosion underneath
- Body panels/flanks are straight, with contours and doors lining up neatly and evenly
- No signs of corrosion around the body or the sills also underside rust treated and re undersealed in 2021
- Wheelarches had chrome trim added in 2020
- Chromework is in very good shape, retaining a deep shine, and showing no signs of discolouration or pitting
- Windscreens are in good shape, and light clusters/lenses are clean and tidy
- The beige leather interior (with piped blue edges) shows only a gentle and even patina. The hides remain supple and retain a good colour
- Headlinings are taut and clean
- Carpets are plush and free of stains fitted blue with blue lambs wool over rug and footstools to rear
- All instruments are present and correct, and working
- Door bottoms and sills good
- Underside of the car appears solid, with no signs of leaks below the engine
