The Attractiveness

The original Panda 4x4 seemed like a truly innovative proposition - the world's first transverse-engined 4x4 - but in fact it was the logical evolution of a much older idea. Fiat had a long tradition of building robust small family cars capable of tackling the difficult roads of the country's rural communities. Creating a 4x4 for this purpose was an obvious evolution.

Initially, owners of big 4x4s despised this newcomer, but a quick test drive in a Panda 4x4 was enough to change their minds. With its switchable four-wheel drive and very short gear ratios, it could go anywhere the more emblazoned off-roaders could go.

Like its larger competitors, the simple and modest 4x4 attracted both users seeking practicality and style enthusiasts. For the latter, Fiat introduced the Sisley model, which increased luxury and style.

This newly restored and restyled 1989 Panda 4x4 started life as a standard example but has been updated to Sisley specifications. It is in incredible condition, reflecting a very detailed and complete restoration of bodywork, interior and mechanics. The photographs speak for themselves, so we will let them.
