For a firm that's long been synonymous with fast saloons and estate cars, the advent of the wedge-shaped 8 Series grand tourer in 1990 was a real turn up for the books. BMW spent nine years and over 1.5 billion Deutsche Marks developing it, using cutting-edge CAD design to achieve an exceedingly slippery .029 drag coefficient. For the most discerning buyers, a V12 engine was offered, transforming the E31 into one of the greatest long-distance Bahnstormers ever made.
Global recession hurt sales, so these high-spec 8 Series are very hard to find in the UK today. Therefore, we're delighted to offer this well-kept 1991 example of a V12-engined 850 I with a six-speed manual gearbox. It takes years of searching to find an 8 Series with this enviable specification, let alone one so well-presented as this.
