This was built as a demonstrator for the company who created it, taking it to prestige motor racing events such as the Silverstone Classic and Salon Prive.
Having served its purpose as a demo, the company sold the simulator via Car & Classic auctions. Unfortunately the successful bidder has had to undergo back surgery and is having a custom rig built, meaning that this delightful bit of kit is once again available.
Sitting in the simulator is as close to the real thing as possible. It has a Heusinkveld Pro triple pedal box for clutch, brake and throttle and a bespoke built gear shifter.
The replica red leather rimmed steering wheel has a "Go Race" quick release to make getting in and out easier. It has a 20Nm direct drive motor to provide feedback on steering inputs, and the single seat is a simple padded item as in the original car. Moreover there's a Heusinkveld Pro triple pedal box for clutch, brake and throttle on an electrically movable base plate and a bespoke built gear shifter.
It is VR headset ready and a headset can be supplied at extra cost if required.
The body was hand built to be a faithful recreation of a ‘60s F1 car, built to an accurate 1/1 scale and in correct livery. It has visible rivets and fixings under the paint following the original pattern, has a correct windscreen and chrome bullet mirrors. It even has a roll hoop in case the racing gets too intense.
At the front it has fibre glass wheels with real used tyres on the rims. Overall it is 2.8m long and 1.1m wide at the wheels, and 2.8m wide with the screens in place.
The simulator runs on a standard 3 pin socket and is driven by a Scan PC 3XS with 1660 graphics card, and can be used with just one 50” screen, or surrounded by 3 for a fully immersive experience. To create the feeling of movement there is a fan for wind simulation and under the seat are twin Base Shaker subs to give the engine vibration.
