Iconic, adored and sought after, these are just some of the words that describe Britain's best-selling sports car, the mighty MGB. Half a million variants were produced from 1962 until 1980, yet we’ll never get tired of being charmed by these gorgeous cult classics, especially the earlier chrome bumper models like this 1971 GT. This burgundy beauty is in great condition having been subject to a substantial restoration, including body and engine. It currently resides under cover, dry stored awaiting its new owner due to the current vendor looking to downsize their collection.

Inside the MGB you're greeted with comfortable and pleasant black leather seats, door cards and carpets to match. There's a familiar theme here, black dash and black dials are accompanied by chrome surrounds and switches, it's a subtle but tasteful design with very little sign of wear present. The restoration carried out has resulted in a pleasant and enjoyable interior kept to its beautiful, original 

design, a very splendid job indeed. Sitting in these wonderful cars truly is an outstanding experience, you feel very grounded, yet comfortable, the ultimate driving enjoyment, there’s nothing quite like being sat in a British sports car with the sun beaming down.

The beauty of the MGB cannot be escaped, especially in early GT form with its bright, gleaming chrome bumpers, beautiful wire wheels, attractive styling and low sporty stance. A wonderfully designed car. The car was repainted Damask Red after a substantial restoration was carried out, this saw replacement panels as well as welding repairs and additional element resistance carried out. The finish of the Damask Red is great, a beautiful burgundy that looks superb on this car. A couple of blemishes are present and have been photographed, however, they are minor and don’t take anything away from this charming vehicle. Overall, a superb example of the British classic.

During our visit, the car was manoeuvred a few times for the photographer and each time it started easily and without fuss. The 1.8L ran smoothly without any dramatics or concerns, no doubt testament to the comprehensive work carried out during its restoration a few years ago. A log of the restoration mentions several components that were either rebuilt or replaced, with a few invoices to back this up. Some of these items were; Rebuilt brakes inc new shoes, new wheel cylinders, springs etc. New leaf springs. New spark plugs & coils. New alternator. New fan belt, fan, clips. New brake & clutch pipes. New radiator pipes. New clutch & slave cylinder. New windscreen & tailgate glass. New carburettor floats & valves. New tyres. Aftermarket radio. In addition, later on, the car had a new prop shaft, steering rack, radiator and heater valve installed. So as you can see, a pretty comprehensive amount of work and parts have gone into making this MGB a healthy, enjoyable car,
