MG announced the MGB three-door 2+2 sports car in 1962, the model continued until 1980 selling just over half a million variants in its life the cars compact design, sleek styling and its punchy 1.8 litre engine produced just under 100 bhp in its lightweight chassis making a practical and affordable sports car.

The car has had an extensive restoration back in the late eighties to early nineties with a comprehensive list of components replaced, the current owners have enjoyed the car in the last year but do not have the time now to  drive it as much as they would like.

They have done some small mechanical jobs on the car and have said that the cars appeal had been how easy it is to work on.

The car comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage trust certificate showing its first registration with Canterbury dealer Barretts of Canterbury, this shows the cars authentication and equipment details.

The car did have an extensive restoration in the late 1980’s through to the early 1990’s and a list highlights the extensive work carried out, this totalled over £11000 and was covered by Sporting Classics based in Goudhurst, Kent at the time a respected MG owners club recommended agents.

In August 2021 the car had work carried out to the front suspension and some receipts are also present for parts over the years, all documented in the photograph gallery.

The interior is in very good condition condition, the full black leather is clean and free from any major marks, some light marks on the drivers seat bolster which is to be expected. The black carpets are clean and are protected by over mats, with all pedals clean and in good order. 

The car is fitted with seatbelts front and rear which are all operational, the addition of the full length black sunroof which is operated by a manual handle moves freely and provides a light and airy feel to the cabin. The MG pate in the centre of the cabin can be removed and a modern car audio 

system can be fitted. The headlining has some marks to the rear which are shown on the photos, it is still intact.

There is some blistering on parts of the black interior facia, they do not impede on any of the controls and are more cosmetic. All switches are working and feel solid to the touch. The boot interior is clean and houses a tool kit spare wheel with very good tread.

The pageant blue paintwork is in good condition with the exception of some paint blistering in small areas, most notably on the roof they are at an early stage and no physical rust in coming through at this stage. Chrome work on the bumpers is pitted but free from any dents or scratches. 

The front windscreen does have a large chip in the centre but has not cracked any further, the other glasswork is clean and free from any marks. 
The radial wheels are in good condition and wrapped in matching tyres. The photographs show some minor scratches and chips around then vehicle but generally the bodywork is in a good state.

The car did change from its original colour of white to Pageant Blue paintwork back in 1984. 

The car did have a major restoration between 1987-1993 and is documented extensively by Sporting Classics, this was when it was under the ownership of the garage. The documents show the extensive work carried out on the vehicle.

In 1993 a second hand engine was installed which had just 36,000 miles on it, at the same time extensive updates were done to the vehicle, including a handling kit, clutch, halogen headlight conversion and a new steering rack.
