The Appeal
Karosserie Baur, BMW's coachbuilder of choice since all the way back in 1910, produced over 10,000 convertible conversions across various model ranges. The E30 Baur offers open-top motoring with the elegant simplicity of a single removable roof panel, paired with the smooth inline-six that made the 323i such a rewarding car to drive. The E30 remains one of the most lauded cars BMW ever built, so it's little wonder the Baur convertible has such an unflappable reputation.
This particular example comes with a BMW Owners Club assessment on file, which describes it as "probably the finest example of the Baur I have seen." The bodywork was stripped back to a bare shell and repainted in 2002, and the vendor reports that the structure remains solid, with no corrosion. More recently, the gearbox was replaced along with a refaced flywheel and new clutch.
Now MOT and road tax exempt as a historic vehicle, this handsome, rare convertible is accompanied by the original dealer book pack, the Baur-specific booklet and a detailed enthusiast's record of maintenance and restoration. A fine, well-documented classic that ticks all of the boxes.image.png1.36 MB
