THE APPEAL
Launched in the late Sixties, the Ford Capri had great success from day one. The fastback Coupé was a sporty 2 + 2, offering sporty looks and performance whilst still being affordable. The success continued for 17 years, from the original MK1 in 1969 to the last model, the third generation which was launched in 1978. The third generation (Mk3) came with a choice of engines from a 1.3 litre to a 3.0 litre; there really was a car for everyone.
This particular model is the 2.8 injection, which is more sought-after, having the 2.8 Cologne V6 fuel injected engine fitted. Not only is it the 2.8i, but it’s also the special version which comes with half-leather Recaro seats with matching door cards, limited-slip differential, stiffer suspension, a five-speed gearbox as standard and more modern-looking, seven-spoke alloy wheels.

SUMMARY
Having had an extensive restoration in 2005, looking at the MOT history, it appears that the Capri 2.8i Special hasn’t had any excessive use since then, covering just a few hundred miles each year. The car presents well both inside and out, retaining the original interior, which is in really good condition for the age of the vehicle.
