The Land Rover 90 was introduced in 1984 the year before production of the series 3 finished. 

The new non-series Land Rovers, whilst quite similar aesthetically had some significant changes underneath, the transformative one being a move from leaf springs to coils giving much needed improvement in ride quality whilst still maintaining the off road capability they had 

become renowned for. 

Whilst there are subtle changes to the visual design it retained the classic shape and rugged style of its predecessors and the Land Rover 90 saw the same success as its predecessors and later developed into the modern Defender we have today

The current owners bought the Land Rover in 1999 to use as a second car and have kept the car very well maintained throughout their ownership. Originally the Land Rover was a police vehicle in Wales and as such has the spare wheel mounted in the rear of the car, which is unusual for these cars. 

The owners have become quite attached to the Land Rover, but having only covered around 90 miles in it last year they feel it is time to pass it on to a new owner to enjoy.

There is a small amount of paperwork prior to the current owner acquiring the vehicle, however there are invoices for all of the work and general maintenance for the current ownership going all the way back to the start of the current ownership in 1999. 

This includes some notable recent work such as new front cross member, near side floor pan, pillar and cross members front and back as well as a full chassis underseal once the work was complete. 

There are the previous MOTs that verify the mileage and invoices for all of the regular servicing, demonstrating just how well cared for this Land Rover is.

The series 3 has a classic utilitarian interior that reflects the practical nature of these vehicles, with three seats up front and a  large load area with shelf in the rear. The seats are in good condition for the age with only a few signs of wear - Land Rover built them to last. 

The dash is in good condition and the interior presents well overall. There are a couple of very minor issues such as care needs to be taken winding down the left window, the rear door latch is not functioning as it should and there's rust in the interior door sills, but given the overall condition of the interior we don’t feel that these minor points detract from the overall quality of this Land Rover.

Whilst the exterior isn’t perfect, it is all sound and very much usable as it is. The current owners feel that it would benefit from a respray and this is something they would have done if they were keeping the car. 

All of the trim is in good condition as can be seen in the photos and the iconic rugged design of the series 3 looks as good today as when it was first released. 

There are some signs of rust on the lower sections of the doors that could do with attention and this is a common point on Land Rovers of this era which doesn’t represent a significant issue.

The Land Rover started easily from cold, idles smoothly and pulls well. The current owners have been meticulous in their care for this Land Rover as demonstrated by the extensive paperwork detailing the work done to keep this car driving as well as it does. 

The MOT is until October and there are no advisories, the owners have always had work carried out to address any issues as soon as they arise, the result being that this Land Rover is mechanically very good. 

Alongside the welding detailed in the paperwork section above It benefits from a recent new exhaust as well as some tuning to ensure a perfectly smooth idle alongside a significant amount of work on the brakes.

With the original Land Rover models, including the 90, becoming increasingly sought after and good examples appreciating in value, this Land Rover 90 presents a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a mechanically sound Land Rover that is ready to drive.
