The Appeal
If you had the equivalent of £190,000 knocking around in spare change in 1986, you could buy this car, Mercedes-Benz’ illustrious W126 560SEC range-topper. That may seem a lot for a V8-powered Stuttgart coupe, but then this was a virtually hand-built car whose quality and engineering would shame Rolls-Royce.
Today, the 560SEC stands as a symbol of what Mercedes-Benz achieved at the peak of its engineering-led era. These cars are so well-built that they work equally as daily drivers or cherished classics.
This car was bought by the vendor in 2019 and has received considerable investment in the years since. Highlights include a full respray in the attractive original Nautical Blue metallic, plus attention to the power steering, differential, new water pump and an array of more minor preventative repairs. Inside the well-kept beige leather features a new headlining. The large history file shows regular servicing throughout the car’s life.
We are told that the extensive electrical toys all work correctly and that the car ‘drives like a ship.’ The MOT runs to October 2025, and its lack of advisories attests to the condition.
