The Appeal

Back in the 80s a cabriolet Escort was a familiar sight in summer months, but 40 years on they are an exceptionally rare find. Which is a shame, because their mix of robust, simple mechanicals and four-seat drop top practicality make them perfect classic wheels.

This 1986 Mk4 is a top specification Ghia with the 1.6L CVH engine and a manual box. It has covered less than 100,000 miles in the hands of a just six keepers and sports a well kept grey velour interior. The exterior has received work in recent years and the last MOT in July 2023 showed no structural advisories. It has been little used and dry stored since then.

With so few of these cars left on the road and mullets back in fashion, here is a chance to rejuvenate this seemingly solid example and return it to its full bubble-permed, bleach-jeaned glory!
