The Appeal
The 25 dates from Renault’s Imperial period, a time when the firm was knocking it out the park with great new cars. This Robert Opron-designed saloon hit the spot with consumers, its mix of French big-car comfort and high tech wizardry, most notably a voice command system, finding nearly 50,000 buyers during its nine-year production run.
Of those, a mere handful survive. Records indicate that only 15 of this model, the GTX Automatic, are known to exist, of which only 3 are road registered. This, then, is a wonderful opportunity for fans of classic saloons to add one more road-going car to that list.
Finished in smart mid-blue with a blue velour interior, this GTX has been with the current enthusiast keeper since 2010. He is only the third keeper. He has dry stored it and used it very sparingly, which has kept the mileage down to below 80,000 miles. Shortly after purchase, it received a new gearbox.
We are told that the car runs and drives well and will be sold with a fresh 12-month MOT. It is unrestored so there are some light signs of use, but nothing that detracts from those classic Opron lines and 80s Renault comfort. When will you see another one come to market?
The vendor says:
“This is a lovely car, very easy and comfortable to drive, and a very rare vehicle. I would like it to be bought by someone whe could garage and preserve such a lovely car.”
