A time when Jaguar was competing strongly against other very high end manufacturers meant this era was particularly well made, dripping in quality and luxury. The plushest of carpets and finest leather have meant this fine example of a proper luxury tourer has stood the test of time and is an utter joy to be in.
With lovely paintwork, a punchy V12 and plenty of space, this is a stunning modern classic and should not be underestimated.
Lovingly cared for over the last few years by it’s current keeper, the car has seen proper attention to keep the car looking its finest and has clearly paid off.
The History and Paperwork
- All original folders and booklets, complete with a well stamped service book up to September 2022
- Good collection of MOT certificates dating back some time along with some tax discs
- Original Jaguar letter confirming the vehicle as a demonstrator when new - Original cassette handbook & warranty cards
- MOT valid until April 2024 and the test was carried out at an odometer reading of 47,242 miles
The Interior
- Gorgeous cream leather with red piping to match the exterior, all in very good condition with minimal wear and no sagging
- Headlining in top order with no marks, sagging or fading
- All the wooden trim is present, some lacquer peel, but this can be remedied relatively easily - Electrically operated & heated seats
- Electrically operated wing mirrors
- Electric windows
- Cruise control
- Original cassette player and Trip/MPG gauge
- A/C needs re-gassing otherwise functional
The Exterior
- Very good paintwork all round with some areas having seen paintwork repairs. All work has been carried out to a high standard with only a handful of minor blemishes and good colour matching & blending.
- Recently refurbished wheels. Center caps are all present and had not been replaced for the pictures
- Original registration plates reside under new plates on top. This is to retain originality as exact replacements were not available
- Chrome and brightwork is all very good, no pieces missing and all having a nice shine
- Black plastic trims appear intact with little to no fading
- Front headlamp glass and rear tail lights are fog and damage free from what we could tell
- This is a 32 year old car and has some minor corrosion blemishes in isolated places, but nothing that can’t be remedied with ease
- Freshly detailed to an exceptional standard.
- Should be noted that the nearside electric mirror does stick from time to time
- TWR Bodykit and twin headlight conversion supplied new from main dealer
The Mechanics
- Started perfectly with no visible smoke from cold
- On a long run out the car performed flawlessly with plenty of power
- New set of wipers
- Floor area near sill weld repair done 2018
- Full set of matching Kumho tyres
- Under bonnet is tidy with no evident leaks or otherwise though would benefit from a general clean and isolated corrosion treatment on non structural components
- Full size alloy spare wheel with cover
The Summary
Likely one of the more solid and low mileage examples available today, this wonderful gem of a XJS is a true crowd pleaser and would be a wonderful first classic or superb addition to any collection.
With a lovely paint finish, luxury leather and plush carpets throughout and a surprising amount of electronic additions for a 30+ year old motor, this is a very useable car and will take you anywhere in unrivaled comfort.
