The Appeal
The G Wagon changed everything.
Marrying Mercedes-Benz build quality with Steyr-Puch four-wheel-drive system was a match made in heaven. The G Wagon burst onto the scene in 1979 and was immediately superior to just about any other 4x4 of the market. Four decades on, the boxy silhouette has altered little, although the G has morphed into one of the most luxurious cars on the road, while early examples from the original W460 generation are far more utilitarian and fit for purpose.
This 1990 example is in very good original order and has a lot going for it. The vendor tells us:
"I am selling what is probably one of the finest examples of the Mercedes G Wagon W460 in the UK. Private plate 'G12 WGN' included. Low mileage for age. This is not a vehicle that requires an overhaul or investment after purchase, and the price reflects that. Meticulously, mechanically maintained - the car is ready to tour/enjoy immediately with no mechanical work required! Spotless interior - no water leaks! Original spec of extras, electric windows, front spot lamps, headlight washers etc. Included is a long service history, workshop manual etc that will come with the vehicle."
