The Appeal
The Golf GTI launched the hot hatch but it took Ford’s XR3 to turn it into a war. Crisp styling and judicious use of spoilers, plus the late arrival of fuel injection, made the rival hugely popular.
Later cars got more luxurious, gaining upgraded Recaro trim, electric windows and sunroofs while the final models like this one used Ford-developed EFI technology.
Factory standard survivors are a rarity and popular with collectors. This one stands out with its low mileage and resulting good condition. There is also a thick history file and long MOT to dial up the appeal. Light, agile and entertaining, this is great example of a hugely enjoyable fast Ford.
