Introduced in 1989, the R129 generation of Mercedes-Benz SL was a major evolution for the brand, bringing new standards of technology and luxury to the sports car market, along with a much-lauded safety innovation in the form of its pop-up rollover hoop.
The breath-taking styling was the work of Mercedes stalwart Bruno Sacco, his final design of a 40-year career with company. It looked magnificent then and still looks magnificent today. Yet it had plenty more going for it than just looks – it was a wonderfully luxurious grand tourer, powerful yet relaxing to drive.
This example is a 1992 car, untouched by later facelifts and therefore the R129 in its purest form.
It’s a clearly well-loved example that has come from long-term ownership, its previous keeper having kept it for 21 years. It has a monumental amount of service history and is in superb overall order.

SUMMARY
This is a gorgeous example of a completely original and unspoilt early R129 SL, a Mercedes-Benz model that is on a rapid trajectory to becoming a valuable classic, following in the tracks of the earlier R107 and Pagoda models and an ideal tip for future investment.
It’s in immaculate condition inside and out and comes with the desirable option of a factory hardtop and a well-documented service record. A truly lovely example of the emerging R129.
