The Appeal
In many respects the Mercedes-Benz A124 convertible might just be the perfect classic. Impeccable Stuttgart build quality, luxury specification, space for four with the top down and a particularly relaxed and comfortable approach to the business of getting from A to B.
Of the vast array of models, the E320 is arguably the one to have. The highly regarded M104 straight six engine delivers a healthy 215bhp, enough to equip the car with effortless form. The bigger engined cars like this one also got higher specifications, including full leather and tasteful walnut veneer accents.
Finished in handsome ‘triple black’ - black paintwork, roof and leather interior - this E320 has been looked after by its handful of keepers. Much of its recent life has been spent in the warm climes of Barcelona, which no doubt explains the bodywork’s high state of preservation. The service history tells a similar story, showing regular maintenance.
The vendor acquired the car 18 months ago and is only selling due to lack of use. The car was fully serviced when he bought it - including oils and filters - and subject to a thorough check over. This resulted in the heater matrix and battery being replaced and work to one of the window motors.
The last MOT test showed no advisories and confirms the sparing use. The car will usefully be sold with a fresh MOT, further underlining the attractive provenance of this well kept four seater convertible.
