While most markets usually have one home-grown off-roader that reigns supreme above all others, Japan’s automotive industry has produced a raft of successful 4x4s from virtually all their leading manufacturers. Alongside the long-lived and much-celebrated Toyota Land Cruiser, Isuzu Trooper and Daihatsu Fourtrak (to name but a few), the Mitsubishi Shogun has enjoyed immense success over a great many years and various generations. Distributed under various names, the Shogun has sold more than 3.3 million units worldwide and is renowned for its off-road capability, towing capacity and reliable mechanicals.
