In today’s saturated and highly competitive SUV market, Jeep’s latest offerings tend to get lost in the melee, yet back in 1999, the Grand Cherokee (WJ) was considered a real class leader. Equipped with the 4.7-litre “Power-Tech” V8 engine, the Limited was the flagship Grand Cherokee, incorporating copious quantities of leather, wood and technology into the cabin.
This 1999 Grand Cherokee has only had three owners, the last two being husband and wife. The vendor informs us that since 2016, the car spent most of its life sitting in a dry garage until the vendor acquired it. If you’re looking for a smart Jeep with a documented history, then this Grand Cherokee Limited is most certainly one to think about.

- Everything works with the exception of the heater controls apparently do not power up
- The carpeting and headlining are very presentable
- All appears in good order inside the boot
The Exterior
- Attractive green paintwork
- Very straight bodywork with no dents we could see
- All of the badging and light lenses remain in great shape
- No indication of having been used for serious off-roading
- The vendor informs us that there is no corrosion to be seen although there are a couple of small scratches on the driver’s door which have been touched in and also a couple of small blemishes on the front bumper corner
- The alloy wheels display a few blemishes but are in good condition for their age
- Goodyear Wrangler HP tyres appear in very good condition
- Underneath, all appears in very clean and in good order
- Detachable tow bar fitted
The Mechanics
- QUADRA-TRAC II four-wheel drive system with open differentials front and rear
- 4.7-litre V8 petrol engine
- All looks to be clean and tidy under the bonnet
- Starts, runs and drives without fault, with plenty of performance both on and off-road
Summary
Be it as off-roaders or family wagons, the fact is these Jeep Grand Cherokees usually had hard lives making smart, low-mileage examples rather hard to find. This 1999 Limited is in great overall condition, making this a fantastic opportunity to acquire one of these capable machines.
