The Appeal
The 3200GT is like a greatest hits of Italian car building. Evocative styling by Guigiaro, hand-built by Maserati and featuring the firm’s superb AM585 V8, but now with twin turbos. This was a serious bid by Maserati to reclaim its place in the GT pantheon.
It did exactly that. Beyond the neat detailing, most notably those ‘Boomerang’ rear lights, the GT was a seriously quick and capable performer, particularly, as here, when equipped with the engaging 6spd manual box.
This car is attractively finished in Azzuro Argentina Blue paintwork, which received a professional refresh and respray five years ago. Upgraded BBS 19in alloys give a more purposeful stance and a Quicksilver exhaust provides a sonorous soundtrack. The cream leather with Alcantara headlining is in good order and even retains the original Becker Mexico sound unit.
The vendor acquired this 2000 car in 2003 and has kept the mileage below 37,000 miles. It has been regularly serviced by main dealers and then independent specialists in recent years. There was a major service in March 2025 costing close to £2,000.
With its sparing use, extensive history, tasteful upgrades and lengthy MOT, this is a very tempting example of Maserati’s excellent GT.
The vendor says:
“This is a true driver's sports car. It accelerates aggressively and sounds awesome.
Yet it is practical (4 seats and reasonable boot space) and comfortable enough for daily use.
There are several unique features that make this one stand out from other Maserati 3200s. In particular, the colour contrasted against the unique 19-inch BBS gunmetal alloys.
“The XENON lights make a dramatic improvement aesthetically (especially as it radiates against the blue paint work). The exhaust sound is very fitting and matches the looks of the car.
It is very low mileage and has been looked after and maintained immaculately with no expense spared.”
