With many manufacturers of the time moving away from traditional, classic styling in their cars, it was rather pleasant to see Jaguar stay true to their core values when unveiling the all new S Type in 1999. A unique blend consisting of lines reminiscent of the golden era of 60s jaguars, and modern day running gear and technology. 

Aimed at buyers of executive saloons such as the BMW 5 series and Mercedes E Class, the S Type was built on the Ford/Jaguar DEW platform. Being praised on release by the motoring press for its quality ride and interior. The S Type presented an executive saloon for buyers who wanted to stand out from the crowd.

This 2004 model was something of an updated variant, now boasting an updated dash, centre console, grille, and most notably a new six speed automatic transmission.  

This fine example was bought by a friend of the current owner in January of 2004, at the time costing £22,500 from Grange Motors in Brentwood. 

It was then in 2012 when this owner moved abroad that the current owner purchased the vehicle going on to use it for a further four years before putting it into storage around 2016. 

In its time in storage the car was regularly run and maintained to a high standard, before being brought back out earlier this year. MOT paperwork suggests very limited mileage during its time prior to being stored, hence why it sits at just over 33,000 miles today.

The car is accompanied by a comprehensive folder of paperwork, consisting of the original invoices for the car, the new owners “welcome pack”, the V5 document and several of the previous MOT certificates, including its most recent one in October of 2021 which it passed. 

Documentation also shows that the current owner of the vehicle has had work done by a local service centre to refresh the car upon removal from storage. The list of work done is as follows:

- 4 replacement tyres 

- 4 replacement alloy wheels 

- New track rod ends 

- New tie rod ends

Glancing into the cabin brings forward the question of whether anyone has actually ever sat inside the car. Exuding style and comfort from all angles, the gorgeous sand leather upholstery bears almost no wear whatsoever, housing the lashings of wooden trim and dash pieces to be expected of an executive jaguar. The quality and luxury on these Jaguars is really where they’re miles ahead of their other European counterparts.

The seats themselves are presented extremely neatly, with minimal wear to the bolsters and cushioning. The seat controls all work as does the original radio, with all of the interior trim pieces and door furniture in remarkable condition, which correlates with the car’s low mileage of 33k.

Finished in a gorgeous shade of Jaguar’s Midnight Black, the exterior of the car is in outstanding condition with an almost mirror-like shine to the paintwork. 

The iconic and timeless Jaguar front end adorned with chrome trim of an equally good quality. The car has been fitted with 4 replacement alloy wheels and tyres, which are in fabulous condition and really tie the car together. 

The car does boast the original tool kit, seated within a carrier in the boot, it looks to be of an immaculate standard. 

This S Type sports the 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engine, paired to a 6 speed automatic transmission. It fires into life immediately providing a subtle V6 engine note through the twin exhausts at the rear. 

The engine bay and engine itself appear remarkably clean, as does the underside, having had new track and tie rod ends alongside rear lower wishbones and stabiliser link arms to refresh the suspension. 

The solidity and safety of the car being emphasised through its recent passing of its MOT, valid until 11 October 2022 

Combining timeless lines with modern day usability, this S Type is a sure future classic. It’s rare to come across an example such as this, with incredibly low mileage and in such outstanding condition. It is a car that has clearly been loved and excellently cared for, having had no expense spared to maintain the vehicle to a high standard.
