The Appeal
From the start, the Jaguar XK was well received, and today almost 30 years on from the introduction of the first generation in 1996 the XK is now a true modern classic and is slowly becoming a true classic. With three versions on offer, a hatchback, coupé, and convertible it was a perfect car for any occasion. As the summer approaches it is the latter, convertible version that should be on everyone’s shopping list.
This XK with its low mileage and excellent all-round condition has obviously been looked after well by all of its previous owners. Sitting resplendently in all lights this XK will be a perfect addition to your garage.
The History and Paperwork
- Leaving the factory in mid-2007 this XK travels north from the Midlands to the first owner, located near the English and Scottish border.
- She stays up within the borders for the majority of her life, we can see this through the stamps within the service book.

- Currently sitting on a private plate (that will come with the car) it also comes with its original dealer plates.

The Interior

Although the XK looks great from the outside, it’s the inside where it is truly stunning. Fitted with all of the comfortable options you expect from a Jaguar you get out of the driver’s seat feeling refreshed and surprised that a journey could be so comfortable.
The cream leather seats fitted to this XK are in very good condition, with no jean stains, rips, or tears to the material all four of these seats are great to sit in. A small clean-up could be done on the driver’s seat but this should not detract from the overall condition. They are also electrically operated, making it extremely easy to find the most comfortable driving position.
To complement the cream leather there have been some lovely wooden panels fitted to the centre console, these panels are in very good condition. They show little signs of sun bleaching with very few obvious scratches to the material either.
Whether you have the roof up or down the cabin is a wonderful place to be. With the fabric roof in place, it feels like a purposeful cabin, a proper sports car with the low burble of the V8 filling the cabin. When the weather is playing ball this fabric section can be retracted at the touch of a button, folding away quickly and quietly it stores neatly behind the rear seats under the rear deck. With the roof down the cabin transforms into a light and airy affair.
As you can see from the interior photographs, this car has a lot of optional extras fitted to it. You will be surprised to hear the kit that this car had fitted to it in 2007. Keyless entry was almost unheard of in 2007, now a comfort we have all come to know and love it makes using this car a doddle. To match the keyless go system there is also a large touch screen infotainment system fitted that controls your telephone, navigation, climate control, and other important tasks.
Overall, the interior of this big cat is in great condition and raring to go on your next big road trip. With all the bells and whistles fitted it is a great interior to live with on a day-to-day basis in this modern world.
The Exterior

When the XK8 launched in 1996 it shared a lot of parts, and looks, with its brother the Aston Martin DB7 with the latter being known as ‘a Jag in drag’. After ten years it was time for a large redesign, in 2006 Jaguar launched the XK150. The XK150 has aged gracefully still looking new today with this example being no different. Finished in a great silver it looks great in all lights. As you might expect from a car of its age there are a few marks here and there on the bodywork, mainly at the front, but these should not deter you from bidding on this example.
All four of the split-rim design alloys are in good condition, with some slight curbing marks they still look great. Sitting on 4 matching Dunlop tires it is clear that it has been owned and run by a true enthusiast who cares about the maintenance of their car.
The smaller elements like headlights, fog lamps, and brake lights are all presented with a lack of cracking or fogging to any of the lenses. The twin tailpipes at the rear are subtle, only hinting at something special under the bonnet, these exhausts provide a lovely soundtrack too.
With a few small marks, that are easily fixed, the exterior of this car is in good condition.
The Mechanics

To make sure the XK was an out-and-out sports car, Jaguar made sure that the heart fitted was something incredibly special and powerful. Fitted with a large and powerful 4.2L V8 mated to a smooth automatic gearbox it is a perfectly capable cruiser that will eat up motorway miles. However, flip the gear selector to the left into sport mode the whole car comes alive. Becoming a true big cat will fire you down the road at a vast rate of knots.
As you can see from the odometer this car has covered very few miles, with a yearly average of around 2,000 miles it is no surprise that the car starts on the button every time and will drive great. Under brake she tracks straight with no unwanted vibrations through the steering wheel, under acceleration, there are no worrying noises with the gearbox shifting well, and when cornering there appear to be no noises from the suspension.
With the current owner being an engineer, they searched long and hard for the perfect example of an XK. They have made sure that this car is kept in great mechanical condition.
Now it is your turn to experience the thrills of a big cat, the V8 is the perfect engine for any adventure and the smooth gearbox will make sure that you are always nice and comfortable.
