THE APPEAL

Launched in 2006, the Porsche Cayman has been a tremendous success and rightly so. Using parts mainly from the 911 (997) and a few from the Boxster, owning a Cayman S is, without doubt, a cheap way into Porsche ownership.

This lovely Atlas Grey 2007 model presents extremely well. The interior is in excellent condition despite the age and mileage, and is a good indication of a well cared for car. The 3.4 litre engine had the IMS bearing checked before the owner purchased the car, by the previous keeper, with no issues reported. The final checklist tick is it’s also the more desirable manual version.

There is a minimal amount of colour wear to the edge of the driver’s bolster

The switchgear all appears in good condition and is reported to work correctly
Air conditioning is reported to work but probably not as cold as it once was
No fault lights are displayed when the engine is running
The odometer has a reading of 119,237 miles
The manual gearknob is in excellent condition
The carpets are in a clean condition, both in the cabin and in the front and rear storage areas

THE MECHANICS

3.4 litre flat-six engine

Drilled discs are standard and look to be in good condition
The vendor reports the previous keeper had the IMS bearing checked with no issues reported, and this was just over 12 months ago
The car starts up with no smoke or untoward noises
The six-speed gear change is smooth and precise, and the car pulls strongly through all the gears.
The underside is clean and tidy, with no signs of any leaks

SUMMARY

The perfect way into Porsche ownership just in time for the warmer months ahead. Mid-engined with excellent handling, fantastic performance and impressive looks.

The Cayman S is a brilliant Porsche to own which will be a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the next custodian.
