Produced for ten years between 2001 and 2011 across a single generation, the Jaguar X-Type was available with both a sedan and estate body shell, and marked a number of firsts for Jaguar from a technological standpoint. The first series-production estate to wear the Jaguar badge, the X-Type also saw Jaguar introduce its first diesel engine, first four-cylinder engine and first front-wheel-drive vehicle into its lineup.

Powered by a multitude of petrol V6 engines ranging from 2.1 to 3.0 litres, along with 2.0 or 2.2-litre turbocharged inline-four diesel engines, the X-Type driver was offered the choice of a five-speed or six-speed manual, or an automatic transmission, initially a five-speed Jatco item or later a six-speed Aisin model on the 2.2-litre diesel model.

First registered in 2009 towards the end of X-Type production, this example was delivered new to its one-and-only registered keeper in Japan, who evidently used the car sparingly judging from its low odometer reading of 45,427 miles, which equates to around 3,800 miles per year on average.

Imported to the UK this year by a West London-based Jaguar specialist who is well-versed in bringing over top-quality cars from Japan, this X-Type has been fully converted to UK specification with the correct speedometer, UK sat nav system and full UK spectrum radio.

In addition to the above work, the car has also been given a major service including new brake discs and pads all round, a new water pump, new coil packs and a standard oil and filter change.

Included with the car is the UK registration document, V5 ownership document showing 0 UK keepers, the mileage verification certificate from export in Japan, full UK Jaguar book pack and two sets of keys.

As is typical for a Japanese-imported car, the interior is in far better condition than the majority of UK cars at a similar age and mileage.

This example is no exception, with the cabin of this X-Type being in. Fantastic condition throughout and presenting in a condition that hides its age with apparent ease.

The quilted leather front seats are both in excellent shape with minimal wear and no damage, whilst the same is true of the rears. The carpets are all in good condition throughout, as are the door cards which show no heavy wear or usage.

The wooden inlays on the dashboard look fantastic and retain an impressive shine to the lacquer, and there is no known faults with any of the electrical systems or switchgear.

Finished in Porcelain White, this X-Type oozes class in a way that many mid-sized executive sedans struggle to do so, and presents in fantastic condition throughout, retaining - according to our vendor - its original panels and paintwork throughout, with no sign of any rust or corrosion.

Remaining in excellent condition, we struggle to find any sign of heavy use on the photographs that we’ve seen, though the Porcelain paintwork likely goes a long way towards hiding the typical light marks and stone chips picked up throughout 12 years of (admittedly gentle) use.

All four wheels are in excellent condition with no sign of any kerbing or damage, whilst the correct Jaguar centre caps are present and also in great shape.

The ‘entry level’ 2.1-litre V6 engine is mechanically fantastic according to our vendor, and has clearly benefited from extensive recent works prior to being offered for sale, the result of which is an X-Type that is ready for its next owner to simply jump in and enjoy.

The engine bay, the block and the ancillaries all present in great condition, with no signs of any leaks or issues that we can see, nor that have been reported to us by the vendor. 

The latest MOT exam - dated 22 February 2021 - shows no advisory items, and resulted in a pass on the first attempt.

Offered in original condition throughout and benefitting from an impressively high specification for a 2.1-litre V6 model, this 2009-registered, Japanese-imported X-Type would make an ideal first or ‘small’ Jaguar for the driver that is looking for a refined, smooth, long-distance runner that offers impressive comfort and amenities.
