The Appeal
Launching a four-cylinder Mustang was a risky move. Many enthusiasts had shunned straight-six Mustangs of old, accepting only the full-bore V8 as the only acceptable engine for their beloved "Pony Car". But the Ecoboost changed all that.
Thanks to a big turbo, the 2.3-litre inline-four pumped out a very respectable 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. That meant performance was close to that of its V8 sibling, all while achieving significantly better fuel economy.
