Ralph Lauren’s passion for cars is well known, and his private collection ranks among the most admired in the world. Mr Lauren chose Sandy Copeman, the cofounder of Amalgam Collection (a British firm that has been making fine model cars for more than 30 years), to create perfect 1:8 scale replicas of 17 of the most impressive vehicles he owns. The company produced a limited-edition run of 99 for each car, available at select Ralph Lauren stores worldwide.

The Porsche 550 Spyder is one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1950s: small, lightweight, and built with a single-minded focus on performance. Designed as a true racer for both the road and the track, it became famous for its agility, minimalist engineering, and unmistakable low-slung silhouette. Despite its compact size, the 550 earned a fantastic reputation in motorsport, punching well above its weight at events like the Targa Florio and Le Mans.

Developed with the support of Mark Reinwald, curator of the Lauren collection, this faithful 1:8 scale recreation comes complete with a certificate of authenticity identifying it as one of just 99 examples built. The model is created entirely by hand using an advanced 3D scan of the original car, accurate to one-tenth of a millimetre and requiring more than 3,000 hours to complete, showcasing incredible detail throughout.

This project marks the first time Ralph Lauren has permitted his collection to be reproduced in this form, offering a rare and exciting opportunity for dedicated collectors. Each model is beautifully presented in a protective display case and mounted on a custom-designed Ralph Lauren podium.
