Produced from 1983 to 2003 this generation of the Suzuki Swift is the second-Generation facelift.
The Suzuki Swift began in 1983 as a marketing and manufacturing rebadge of the Suzuki Cultus, a supermini (or subcompact) manufactured and marketed worldwide across three generations and four body configurations—three-door hatchback, four-door sedan, five-door hatchback and two-door convertible—and using the Suzuki G engine family.
The Swift was marketed in the Japanese domestic market (JDM) as the Cultus but in Europe was given the name Swift. Numbers peaked in Q3 of 2014 with the most Swift GLX 5 Doors reaching 5,671 registered, since then, there has been a slow decline, which will make these cars more desirable as time goes on._RMP9425.jpg1.36 MB
The History
Purchased from Car and Classic the owner has had this car for a few months, however a change in circumstance has meant the car can now be sold for someone else to enjoy.
The Paperwork
The car comes with the V5, various receipts, Service Book that highlights each service and various hand-books.
The interior consists of blue patterned coloured seats, a nice plain and simple dashboard that encases the original radio. This model also comes with a lot of factory optional extras including electric wing mirrors, Body coloured bumpers, front electric windows and PAS.
The sunroof opens perfectly as do the electric windows. Both electric wing mirrors and all electrics work as they should. The cabin is a nice place to be and is fully functional and very comfortable._RMP9395.jpg1.39 MB
The Exterior
Finished in a lovely Silky Silver, the overall condition of this car is very good. There are a few marks to mention, not forgetting this car is 22 years old.
There is a touched in area on the nsr bumper, bits of rust on the wheel arches, and a small crease on the nsf bumper. There is also a scratch on the door. That said, nothing takes away from what is a lovely looking car._RMP9421.jpg1.28 MB
The Mechanics
An impressive service history since 2008 is where this car really shines, and Mot’d until September. The car had no visual leaks, no nasty sounds or anything to report during the moving for photographs. There apparently, is a slight seepage from the steering component rack.
The car covering a shade over 1,000 miles a year on average since new, means that the engine seems like it is in good shape and seems to have many happy years of motoring ahead.
Not the oldest of cars to have on our auction, but nonetheless, an absolutely delightful little car with bags of character. This car would be a fantastic, cheap, economical run-around for a new driver or, alternatively a nice little car to run around in for a great price.
The car drives really well, and feels completely solid and the engine purrs. A great all-round car that is a pleasure to drive and something that makes you forget that its 22 years old!
