When it comes to motorsport, Formula 1 is the absolute pinnacle. It’s where the most advanced cars, most talented single-seat racers and the biggest manufacturers go wheel-to-wheel to determine who really is the fastest in the world.

As such, any genuine memorabilia from the series is highly prized and very collectible. Therefore, we are very pleased to offer for auction this Formula 1 centre body section from a 1995 Ligier JS41 – once home to a mighty Mugen-Honda V10 and the most competitive car Ligier had produced for a while. 

Ligier were a true institution in Formula 1, operating continuously in the championship from 1976 to 1996. So what we have here is a real piece of history from one of the great teams in the sport.

Ideal as a display centrepiece for a private collector or any business connected with motorsport, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a centre body section from a genuine Formula 1 car.

Thought to be from the no.25 car shared by Martin Brundle and Aguri Suzuki during the 1995 Formula 1 World Championship. This centre body section is believed to be the one from the ‘Gitanes’ sponsored car that Aguri Suzuki crashed into the tyre barrier at Suzuka, during the 1995 Japanese grand Prix.

Complete with the factory build plate to the inside left side of the cockpit, confirming it is from a Ligier JS41 championship car and was produced on the 3rd May 1995 as the 5th in the series. The FIA approval sticker is still partially present above the build plate.

The damage was predominantly to the rear of the vehicle, as you can see from both the bodyshell and from footage of the event, but was enough to retire Suzuki from the race.

Overall the piece is presented in good order, with some marks, chips and scuffs to the paintwork from racing and the impact in the gravel trap.

Construction is from carbon fibre and it all appears to be intact, with just a small fracture to the left-side rear where the engine cover and rear section was damaged in the impact.

The piece is mounted to a couple of small wooden boards with mounted castors for easy maneuvering.
