The Appeal
Combining elements of a V6 with those of a straight six, VAG’s clever VR6 motor was a technological marvel. It was compact too, which meant it could fit under the bonnet of cars like this, the Mk1 TT.
The Mk1 made its name with blown versions of Audi’s highly regarded BAM 1.8litre engine. Dropping the 3.2litre VR6 motor under the bonnet delivered something wholly different. Mated to the clever DSG semi-automatic gearbox, this version was somewhere between sports car and GT, combining the benefits of both. These were the most powerful version of the TT Mk1 and today are sought-after by informed aficionados.
Good, low mileage examples don’t appear on the market often but, as if by magic, here we have one. It is pleasingly factory standard and in the sort of condition you would expect of a sparingly used car with full Audi service history. Inside and out this presents much as it surely would have done in the showroom 19 years ago.
Thanks to a recent Audi service and long MOT there is nothing for the buyer to do except drive it. Which means you can immediately enjoy a car that is viscerally quick and goes around bends as if equipped with a limpet at each corner.
