The Appeal
The 997 built on the all-conquering appeal of the 996 but brought back some classic 911 design cues, including the headlights and dashboard. A huge array of engine and specification options meant there was a version for virtually anyone.
The first owner of this 997.1 clearly knew their way around the options list. They waited to buy one of the first Targas and equipped it with the versatile Tiptronic box and ‘S’ package, which adds a bigger, more powerful engine, the well regarded PASM suspension system, bigger wheels, better brakes and a sports exhaust. To that he optioned the excellent Sport Chrono package that offers a wider range of driving modes. The whole car was then finished in the popular combination of silver over black leather.
Subsequent keepers have looked after it well, staying well on top of the servicing and maintenance to build up a thick history file. All of the work has been completed by main dealers or well regarded marque specialists. The long MOT to July 2025 - with no advisories - underlines the provenance.
Well specified and versatile, this is a great example of the well regarded early 997.
