The Appeal

Arthur Silverton originally founded Shuler Presses in 1975 and undertook improvements and enhancements to Land Rovers but predominantly Range Rovers.
Modifications included the fitting of automatic transmissions and air suspension long before these innovations were offered by Land Rover themselves. The company was renamed Overfinch in 1985 and went on to become the provider of choice for post-production modifications to Range Rovers.

In 2008 Overfinch launched three pre-defined “models” one of which included the Overfinch TDV8 HSE SuperSport which this is. Retailing at £66,495 and based on an already very well specified Range Rover. These models were produced in very limited numbers making the survival of this example all the more exciting and unusual.

The History and Paperwork

A Genuine Overfinch authenticated by the rarely seen overfinch certificate
This Overfinch was originally registered on the 31st March 2008
This is the same day that Overfinch commenced conversion to its current SuperSport specification - Could this be the first we wonder?
This remarkable Range Rover has been enjoyed by a mere two keepers to date
The original owner kept the Overfinch until May 2013 covering 58,336 miles
The current keeper acquired the Overfinch at that time paying £32,500
During the subsequent 11 years a further 79,000 miles or so have been added
Today’s odometer tally stands at 137,771 miles
Some nice provenance providing paperwork is on hand
The current V5 registration document is present detailing the one former keeper
The Overfinch holds an advisory free MOT until September 2025
The original book pack is also present
This includes the service booklet which contains 12 stamps up to a few thousand miles ago
Two keys and all multimedia remote controls are also included

The Condition

This cherished certified Overfinch presents very well throughout
The Range Rover presents in its original Java Black paintwork
The Overfinch specification includes a wealth of exterior enhancements, including:
- Full ten piece carbon fibre SuperSport Aero Body Styling
- SuperSport quad or exhaust tailpipes
- Red coloured brake callipers
- Overfinch bonnet and tailgate lettering with accompanying Overfinch badges

The Overfinch sits on a set of 22-inch Turbine alloy wheels with a diamond cut and black finish
The condition of these looks very good overall
Inevitably there is the odd minor blemish noted
These remain very limited, however, considering the car’s age and mileage
A removable tow bar and Range Rover wheel locks are also noted
The Overfinch’s cabin is a fine showcase for this convertor’s craft
It features an Overfinch bespoke leather interior throughout
Consisting of black and red leather with red stitching
All seats feature an embossed Overfinch logo to their backrests
Naturally enough, this is a highly specified cabin in every respect
Enhancements include:
- Rear entertainment upgrade, TVs plus DVD
- Adaptive cruise control
- Factory privacy glass
- Front and rear parking sensors

- Heated rear seats

- Full size spare wheel behind bespoke rear bumper diffuser

The Mechanics

The Overfinch is powered by the original Range Rover TDV8 unit
This is a Ford “clean sheet” design 3,630cc twin-turbo V8 unit
Originally rated at 268bhp and a whopping 472 Ib-ft of torque at just 2,000 rpm
The only modifications made by Overfinch was the addition of a performance ECU
Power is fed to the permanent all wheel drive system by a ZF 6HP six speed automatic transmission
The under bonnet condition appears very clean and well ordered
It appears highly original, too, with all expected data plates and labels noted
It gives the impression of a very well-maintained example
Likewise, the Overfinch’s underside which looks straight, clean and leak free
