The Appeal
In production from 1997 to 2004, the 996 iteration of Porsche’s famous 911 represented a new direction for the company. In moving away from the air-cooled technology which had up to that point defined the 911, Porsche was able to produce a car which was not only cleaner and more efficient than its predecessor, but also more powerful.
The 996 Carrera 4S was released in 2002, sporting a new front-end redesign and the wider body of the more powerful Turbo variant. Beyond the body style, the 996 C4S also shared the suspension, brakes and 18-inch wheels of its Turbo brethren, sitting 10mm lower than any other 996 Carrera.
Considered by many to be the variant to have, the 996 C4S combines the practicality of 4-wheel drive and the gorgeous wide-body looks of the Turbo, with the sonorous 3.6 L naturally aspirated flat six engine.
This particular car has clearly been well cared-for throughout its life, evidenced by numerous invoices for work over the years. Additionally, the car has benefited from a documented recent clutch and fuel rail replacement, along with bore-score and IMS check, all less than 1000 miles ago in December 2021. Complementing the Seal Grey exterior beautifully, the black interior of this car presents in lovely original condition. Throughout this period Porsche produced some interior colour combinations which could today be best described as dated, but with the black here, you can’t go wrong!
Given the relatively low mileage of this car, the interior condition is excellent. There is some evidence of minor wear to the seat bolsters and gear knob as one would expect, but it is all commensurate with the age of the car.
This was clearly a high-specified car from new, having features such as the second iteration of the Porsche Communications Management system, heated seats, and reverse sensors. Additionally, all interior equipment is reported by the vendor to be functioning normally.

Looking at the exterior of this car, it is clear it has led a cherished life. The bodywork and paint both present in fabulous condition, along with the headlamps and glass.
Both panels and panel gaps appear very straight and consistent, with only the most minor of defects on the closest of inspections. A small door-ding is noted on the nearside rear wing but otherwise the bodywork appears excellent.
The car benefits from 4 new Michelin PS2 tyres fitted December 2021, which have since covered hardly any miles. The alloy wheels also present well, with only minor curbing noted on the front nearside wheel.
