This stunning low mileage UK Home Market RHD Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda was supplied new on the 1st August 1968. The Mercedes Benz was supplied new to a Glasgow based Doctor and the cars original service book confirms Callander’s Engineering Co Ltd maintained the car during its early life with services at 645. 3032, 6371, 8987 and 14989 miles in June 1973. Further services are recorded in the service book at 25760 and 37464 miles. The Pagoda remained in Glasgow throughout the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s and MOT records record the mileage up to 53, 289 miles when it arrived in Yorkshire during 1997. In 1997 the car was purchased by its last owner who has cherished this car during 28 years of enjoyable ownership and has covered 25, 000 miles touring. A comprehensive history to include the original service book and maintenance manual accompanies the car. Having been kept mechanically in excellent order. In late 2024 and early 2025 the Mercedes Benz was treated to a cosmetic re-furnishment program that has cost in the region of £30, 000. The car was stripped down to a rolling shell, then prepared for a complete full re-spray that has been carried out to an exceptional standard. The SL has also had various re-chroming work and now presents in exceptional condition. The underside is structurally outstanding, the upholstery has a nicely aged, very original feel and the engine bay presents well. The hard top is excellent, the mohair soft top has been replaced and is lovely the Pagoda is ready to show, drive and enjoy. Finding cars like this with such impressive early history is difficult, so this will always be a car held in high regard.
