The Appeal
The Jaguar XK120 is arguably the most iconic sports car of the post-war era, renowned for its flowing lines and world-beating performance. When launched in 1948, it was the world's fastest production car, capable of 120mph - hence the name.
This beautifully presented 1953 example reportedly replicates a famous modified XK120 that achieved 141.51 mph (average) top speed at Jabbeke, Belgium in 1953. The record-breaking car, driven by Norman Dewis, had a bubble-top cockpit, whereas our car presumably remains true to the 1953 road car on which it could have been based.
Our Jag is awesome to behold in its distinctive Blue Grey exterior paired with a striking Cartier Red interior. With a documented history of competition in various rallies spanning three decades, this XK120 would be a splendid addition to any collection.

This is surely one of the best XK120 colour schemes in existence. We adore the way this car looks and can only imagine how striking it must have been back in 1953. As the photographs attest, it's in very smart condition throughout, having clearly benefitted from a great deal of work over the years. There are gentle signs of wear to the upholstery and controls as you'd expect to see on a car that's been enjoyed, as well as cherished.

The Mechanics
- 3.4-litre DOHC XK straight-six
- Four-speed manual gearbox
- Well-presented engine compartment
Launched at a time when most people couldn't even afford a car, let alone travel at over one hundred miles an hour, the XK120 must have seemed like something from another planet. These cars were adored by daredevils: pilots returning from service in the Second World War and heroic racing drivers like Stirling Moss. Our XK120 is reportedly in a very fit state and driving well, having been exercised extensively over a number of years, as a classic car should be.
