The Appeal

Presented in 1977 with the difficult task of replacing the beloved Giulia, the "New Giulietta" shared the mechanics of the Alfetta presented five years earlier, adopting the classic twin-cam aluminium engines with two double-barrel carburettors, rear-wheel drive, sophisticated independent front suspension and four disc brakes.

Thanks to the transaxle gearbox moved to the rear with the differential and clutch and thanks to the inboard rear brakes, the weight distribution is optimal and allows for excellent road holding and driving dynamics.

The very personal, unique and innovative design, with straight and squared lines, sharp nose and high tail, a hint of a well-integrated spoiler on the bootlid and matt plastic finishes, so different from the chromed ones of previous models, gave it a modern and dynamic look.

The comfortable and well-furnished interior offered four comfortable seats and a sober, sporty setting, with a linear and modern dashboard dominated by the large instrument panel.

In 1980, the more powerful 1.8 and 2.0 litre engines were introduced and in 1981 the Giulietta received a light restyling. This 1982 Giulietta 1.8 features the pleasant aesthetic innovations introduced during the previous year, with new bumpers, grille and mirrors, a partially redesigned dashboard, new interior trim and protective side mouldings.

Still equipped with its original number plates and with just three owners from new and a quite low mileage, it is in good overall condition.

The beautiful original Periwinkle Blue paint, touched up over time in a few spots, reveals some scratches and imperfections but does not show any particularly damaged areas, as do the side mouldings, a little faded and with some signs of wear but intact.

The front houses the shiny and undamaged grille, the rare optional headlight washers and Carello fog lights with original covers.

The interior is attractive and seemingly well preserved, with seats and door panels upholstered in sand-coloured fabric, wooden steering wheel and gear knob, a clean and healthy headliner and unfaded and undamaged plastics.

The beautiful, sporty dashboard houses the Veglia Borletti speedometer and characteristic anti-clockwise tachometer and the peculiar rotary indicators for oil pressure, water temperature and fuel level.

We are told by the seller that the mechanics were scrupulously maintained both by the first owner, who kept it for many years, and by the following two passionate collectors who owned it and that the 122 hp DOHC engine with two double-barrel carburettors has recently received a thorough service, while the carburettors have been overhauled.

The complete clutch kit is new, the brakes have been overhauled and several components of the steering and braking system have been replaced.

This Giulietta is equipped with an approved and regularly serviced LPG system.

The vendor assures that this Giulietta is efficient and reliable and does not require any intervention.
