The Appeal

The joy of a replica is that you have the chance to improve on the original. That was the clear ethos behind this superb Cobra replica. As the seller says, ‘there’s no replacement for displacement’, and its 460CI 7.5L Ford V8 is likely considerably more powerful than the factory originals.

The car was finished in 2023 and has covered just 259kms since. The exacting standards applied to all areas are clear from the photos. Beneath the classic blue metallic paintwork with its fetching silver stripe, accented with red pinstripes, lies chassis components from a BMW E36M3 plus APR brakes, MSD ignition system and - of course - a Holley carburettor. The Chevrolet 4L80E transmission allows the versatility of full auto mode or sequential semi-automatic shifting.

The wheels are genuine Hallibrand ‘knock offs’ and the bespoke interior is trimmed in black with hand-applied red stitching to seats, dashboard, door cards and centre console. A high end Sony sound system with Hertz amps and speakers completes a very individual and highly specified car.

The vendor tells us that there are a few minor jobs to complete. Once done the buyer gets to capitalise on all the work that has clearly gone into this potent and visually dramatic car.
