The Appeal
The 501 was Fiat's first major post-war volume sedan, built to provide reliable and affordable motoring to European buyers. Equipped with the Fiat 101 1.4L engine, good for 70kph (45mph), these well-built and neatly styled cars were a huge success. This fabulous 1925 appears to be a very rare original UK-market car, first registered on 30th March 1925 just before Italian manufacturers switched to standard LHD construction.
The history file includes the original buff log book and records that it stayed in the same family for 35 years. During this time, in 2012, the car was extensively restored to deliver the handsome red and black car you see in the photos. The quality of the work is evident in the way it has held up. Alongside the renovated bodywork, there is a very smart grey leather cabin and equally well-kept tan fabric roof with side screens.
Mechanically, it is said to start and run well, reaching speeds of up to 45 mph — a respectable pace for a car of this vintage. Purchased by the current owner in 2025, this centenarian Fiat represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-presented and historically notable pre-war tourer.
