Pre-bids

1931 F.N. Model M70 Sahara 350cc Luxus

Highlights

  • Rare Belgian-manufactured pre-war motorcycle
  • "Luxus" (deluxe) specification
  • Motor rebuilt by a well-known Belgian specialist
  • Registered in Germany with German papers

The Appeal

F.N., or Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal, were quickly becoming a popular marque for motorcycles back in the 20s, but they were almost entirely known for their sportier offerings. This simply wouldn't do; the company wanted a name in everything, so they designed this - a utilitarian, rugged bike that was so focused on endurance that they tested it in the Sahara in 1927. They covered over 6,000km of desert in the machines, which quickly coined the bike's now recognisable name.
This 1931 example benefits from an engine rebuild carried out by a well-known Belgian specialist with familiarity with the marque and its engineering. It comes to us with a charming patina as part of a very substantial collection.

We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own  full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
