Pre-bids

1935 DKW SB 200

Highlights

  • Matching numbers; badge, frame, engine and cylinder all correspond, we are told
  • ‘Barn find’ retaining mostly original paintwork
  • Current German registration papers issued

The Appeal

The DKW SB 200 is a characterful two-stroke motorcycle from a marque that was once the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer. With its 200cc single-cylinder engine, three-speed gearbox and distinctive dual exhaust system, the SB 200 offers an authentic taste of pre-war German motorcycling.
This particular example was unearthed as a ‘barn find’, discovered in an attic and acquired at the renowned Veterama event in 2024, where it was being sold by a gentleman clearing his late father's belongings. It has been sympathetically repaired whilst preserving its original character, and carries a pleasing patina throughout. It holds a valid safety inspection certificate through to June 2027, and the vendor reports it is capable enough for classic vehicle tours.

  • Country of registration: Germany
  • Technical inspection status: valid until June 2027

We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own  full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
