The Appeal
The Buick Super 8 left wartime looking fresh. The Sedanet fastback style felt optimistic and forward-thinking, with a commanding presence to the chrome-laden front, a low-profile silhouette and Airfoil fenders offering plenty of muscle. It also offered the Fireball "Valve-in-Head" Dynaflash Straight-8. Quite a piece of kit; built for the highways.
As with any all-American motor, right-hand-drive examples are particularly scarce. Thankfully, Buick also found a strong market in South Africa...
This car spent a quarter of a century on display at the St Croix Motor Museum in South Africa, with its provenance confirmed by correspondence from the museum's owner. Now in the UK and registered on British plates, it has benefited from considerable mechanical attention during its current ownership of approximately three years, as outlined in The Detail below.
