The Appeal
The 1955 Citroën 2CV AZ marks an important milestone in the history of one of the most iconic motorcars ever produced. Introduced in late 1954, the AZ version benefits from the new 425 cc air-cooled flat-twin engine as well as the ingenious centrifugal clutch, bringing greater refinement and versatility to the 2CV, which until then had been conceived primarily as an economical and utilitarian vehicle.
Models produced during this period are particularly sought after for their numerous details characteristic of the early manufacturing years: the corrugated bonnet with pointed nose, the rear suicide doors and the full canvas roof that can be completely rolled back from the rear of the vehicle. These design elements would be progressively abandoned as the model evolved, making the surviving examples from this era particularly rare.
This 1955 2CV AZ thus represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most authentic and sought-after versions of the "Deux Chevaux", a model that has become over the decades a true automotive and cultural icon.
