The Appeal
Jaguar’s original, aerodynamic XK was built to tackle the Mulsanne Straight, but most led a more sedate life on boulevards and around Beverly Hills. Until 2000 this car did the same, but once it arrived in the hands of XK racing specialist Twyford Moores, things dramatically changed.
The firm imported the car from the USA and during 2001 extensively renovated and rebuilt it to compete in the XK Challenge Series. It received upgraded brakes, cooling and charging systems. A fully rebuilt, race-prepared engine by CKL Developments was installed, alongside a rebuilt gearbox. Classically finished in racing red, the car competed in the Series between 2000 and 2005.
On retirement it was used extensively by a previous keeper for European and UK touring. The vendor, an engineer, acquired the car in 2018 and has used it sparingly whilst servicing it annually. It is in very good order, as can be seen in the photos.
The car is well known in XK circles and has appeared in many paper and digital magazines. With its lovely details like the aero screens, removable roll cage and bonnet straps, this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a one-of-a-kind XK140 in very good order.

Inside the black leather interior is largely standard save for the lovely wood-rimmed wheel. It is, like the exterior, in very good order.

This 1956 OTS would have started life with the 3.4L displacement version of Jaguar’s XK motor. In the intervening 69 years, things have moved on considerably. It is now fitted with a rebuilt 3.8L XK unit that was race prepared at considerable expense by specalist CKL Developments. That work was around 20 years ago and is documented in invoices that are shown in the photos.
Other work includes a fully rebuilt ‘Moss’ manual gearbox, upgrades brakes and cooling and improved charging system. The car is fitted with an aluminium radiator and full fire extinguishing system.
There is some maintenance and repair history from the car’s time in the UK. The vendor tells us that he is an engineer and that he has serviced the car annually since buying it in 2018. We are told that it runs well with no faults for the buyer to rectify on purchase.
