The Appeal
The story goes that after World War II, American servicemen were arriving back on their home turf with Triumph roadsters in hand; it’s this that sparked a true revolution for open-top British motors, and with its eager 2.0-liter four‑cylinder engine, crisp manual gearbox and purposeful styling, the handsomely styled TR3 offered genuine performance in an approachable package and proved a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
This 1957 example, chassis TS23154L, benefits from a Heritage Certificate confirming its factory-matching identity, original specification and build date of 23 October 1957. It wears its original factory color scheme of Winchester Blue with Vermillion leather, a combination that looks every bit as striking now as it did nearly seven decades ago. Originally dispatched to the United States, the car is now Belgian-registered and left-hand drive, making it ideally suited to continental European use.
Between 2014 and 2015, the TR3 underwent a documented restoration through Philips Classics BVBA, covering the interior, cooling system, suspension, brakes, fuel system, clutch hydraulics and engine gaskets. Every invoice is retained in the history file. Post-restoration, the car received a general service and electrical work by Autos Passion in 2017.
The car holds Belgian historic vehicle status, exempting it from periodic technical inspection, and its mileage is documented via the Belgian Car-Pass system. Accompanied by its Heritage Certificate, registration documents and a thorough file of restoration and service invoices, this is a well-documented TR3 ready for its next custodian.TR3 (11).jpg1.82 MB
