The Appeal
Few classics do what the original Moggy Minor achieves so effortlessly: stylish, practical, reliable and very easy to own. Add in the open-top, four-seat layout of this convertible, and you can understand why these cars remain so popular decades after they went out of production.
This car is an early 1000 with the reliable 948cc version of the A-Series engine. As a ‘FFB’ prefix car, it began life as a two-door saloon finished in Birch Grey. DVLA records show that the colour was changed in 1982 to the current popular Old English White with a complementary red interior. It benefits from some useful improvements such as a stainless steel exhaust, electronic ignition and front disc brakes. All four tyres plus the spare have been replaced. There is also a quality mohair hood in matching dark red.
The vendor acquired the car in 2013. It was serviced in 2016, since when it has covered very few miles. We’re told that it starts and runs well. A tidy, usable 1000 convertible that could be enjoyed ‘as is’ or there is scope to lightly improve.
The vendor says:
“Great colour combination. Looks great on the road. Fun to drive.”
