Fewer than 1,000 Star Sapphires produced between 1958 and 1960
The seller reports that the car's history is known
The Appeal
The Star Sapphire was the swansong of Armstrong Siddeley's automotive arm, and what a swansong it was. This was the most refined and technically advanced model the Coventry marque had ever built, and was one of the most advanced and luxurious cars on the market in those halcyon days before manufacturing ended in 1960.
Equipped with a 4.0-litre straight-six engine mated to a Rolls-Royce-derived automatic transmission, along with power-assisted brakes and steering as standard, it was a thoroughly modern luxury saloon that rivalled the best from its market contemporaries. A sleeper classic and a quiet but influential revolutionary. Fewer than 1,000 were produced, and survivors are a rare sight today.
This 1960 example is a left-hand drive car, originally delivered new to the Netherlands, and has since undergone a full restoration. It comes to us a handsome two-tone livery with an evocative, nicely restored cabin. Currently located in Hungary, the seller can arrange transport to the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria.WhatsApp Image 2026-03-31 at 15.47.22 (2).jpeg507.16 KB
