The Appeal
The Land Rover Series 2 is often regarded as the sweet spot in the iconic 4x4's development. The 88-inch wheelbase model is particularly prized for its compact dimensions and manoeuvrability, and is a fine day-to-day car to boot - the fact that they're still eminently usable more than six decades after production makes them a very popular classic.
This 1959 example benefits from a rebuild carried out in 2018 by John the Landyman in Sussex, a well-regarded specialist, including a respray in the classic Fawn colour and a new rag top. In 2020, the original petrol engine was replaced with a fully reconditioned 5-bearing diesel unit, offering improved reliability and economy. The clutch was replaced at the same time, whilst brake slave cylinders, pads, new shocks, and a radiator have also been fitted.
Purchased by the current keeper in 2021, the Land Rover has been kept in a carport and has covered fewer than 3,000 miles in the past five years. The underside has been treated with beeswax and phosphoric acid for protection, whilst the ladder frame and bulkhead are reported to be in good condition. It's a grand example that's ready to go - not one to miss. image.png1.4 MB

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
