The appeal
The Austin-Healey Sprite, universally known as the ‘Frogeye’ thanks to its prominent bonnet-mounted headlamps, is one of the most endearing British sports cars of the late 1950s. Light, nimble and built purely for uncompromising fun, it has long been the favourite of enthusiasts who value driving pleasure over formality, and was intended to be a sports car you could keep in your bike shed.
This 1960 example still runs the familiar A-Series four-cylinder inline engine, upgraded to 1275cc. The result is a much livelier machine that is sure to delight the lucky enthusiast behind the wheel.
This Frogeye has been fully restored, with new paint, renewed chrome and trim, and a completely re-trimmed interior. The vendor tells us the brakes have been renewed and the car is ready to hit the road.IMG_1945.jpg2.6 MB
