The Appeal
We love a vehicle with a story to tell. It's what makes this humble Triumph Herald so much more than just an old car.
Bought new by British Uralite in Gravesend, this Herald was used as one of the firm's sales team's pool cars. That's where its interesting story begins, as COVID fundraising hero Captain Sir Tom Moore was working as a travelling salesman for the company during this time and likely drove the Triumph at some point.
Now it gets really interesting. The vendor's father bought the car from British Uralite during the early '60s and he was a keen driver the used the Herald in driving skills and navigation competitions as a member of the Kent Steering Wheel Club. He even won 'Kent Driver of the Year' in 1968. His trophies accompany the car, as do several newspaper cuttings, original handbooks and 'Buff' logbook.
Dry-stored and driven sparingly ever since, the car has been maintained and sympathetically restored as necessary, dismantled to refurbish the chassis and mechanicals during the 1990s, and later undergoing a respray around fifteen years ago. This was carried out to a very good standard; the vendor's father owned a motor body repair business at this time. A significant service in 2022 ensures the Triumph is still in good running order.
NOTE: The vehicle is being re-listed at auction due to a previous buyer withdrawing from the sale.image.png3.06 MB
