The Appeal
Adding a dash of Italian flair courtesy of Giovanni Michelotti, the Triumph TR4 was one of the most celebrated British sports cars of the early 1960s. With a willing 2,138 cc four-cylinder engine, the TR4 offered a more refined open-top experience than its predecessors while retaining the rugged, characterful driving feel that made the TR range so popular with enthusiasts.
This example was delivered new in the USA before making its way to the UK, where it underwent a restoration that included a respray in the correct 'Signal Red'. Now in Holland since January 2023 under one owner, it has benefited from considerable recent mechanical attention. The vendor describes the body as honest with no hidden filler, with doors that hang straight and a solid underside. Inside, the seats have been retrimmed in black faux leather, and all dashboard gauges are reported to work correctly. A wooden steering wheel and partly original interior add to the period charm.
Presented as a driver's car rather than a concours piece, this TR4 offers an appealing opportunity for someone seeking a characterful British sports car to enjoy on the road.IMG_4976q Your Classic Car.jpeg797.28 KB
