The Appeal
The A50 was a new dawn for BSA, heralding the arrival of the 500cc engine that would go on to propel many of the firm’s greatest models. Known as the ‘Power Egg’ thanks to its smooth design, this unitary construction engine was designed to reduce oil leaks and maintenance. It was matched with a small, lightweight frame that earned the A50 a reputation as a ‘smoothie’ tourer.
This gorgeous 1963 A50 was restored by the vendor’s father in 2015 and remains in superb order. On completion, it won best in show at a concours event. It is said to have never been used in the wet and its caring storage is obvious from the photos.
